The Beckwith is named for “The Explorer of the Central Rockies” Captain Edward Beckwith, who led the final phase of the 1853 Gunnison – Beckwith Expedition that sparked both the Western expansion and put the Gunnison Valley on the map. The Beckwith is inspired by its natural surroundings and dedicated to all those who boldly follow their curiosity to this magical landscape, culture, and community.
The Beckwith, like Crested Butte, revels in every season. Winter brings fresh powder and summer teems with wildflower blooms. Autumn is for adventures under a pastel canopy. Spring can feel like all seasons packed into one. Festivals for film, art, music, and wildflowers. In this iconic mountain town, The Beckwith celebrates the indomitable character and stories of those who came before us — and every artist, maker, entrepreneur, neighbor, and adventurer we meet.
The Beckwith is planning a multi-phased renovation that will bring together a visionary team, from Colorado and across the country. The reimagining will touch every part of the property and celebrate the unforgettable landscape and people of Crested Butte through inviting and inspiring spaces, including new food and beverage outlets, updated guest rooms, Adventure Lab, and more. An unexpected mix of rustic materials creates comfortable, warm, and relaxed spaces. Pops of color contrast with natural elements. Artwork and furnishings celebrate local artisans and craftspeople. In all ways, we aim to open up views of the landscape, blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor, and immerse guests in this unique terrain.
This summer, we’ll begin taking reservations for Beckwith Residences. Approximately 49 perfectly appointed one, two, three, and four-bedroom residences will be the ultimate all-season retreats. Soothing, playfully sophisticated interiors by Denver-based R&L Design Co. will reflect the beauty of local peaks, valleys, aspen groves, and meadows.
Just steps from the lift at the base of Crested Butte Mountain, Club Beck is a private mountain and social club offering instant, exclusive access to the best of The Beckwith – all in one place. Membership is curated to bring together Crested Butte’s diverse local community with like minds from a broader, global set who share a love for Crested Butte’s legacy and passion for alpine. Club Beck membership will provide a host of benefits including, but not limited to ski lockers, valet parking, concierge, restaurant and lounge, and hot tub terrace.
